FAQ
- What is a Radar in Open Landmark?
- A radar is an area you define. It represents the
area you want to poll information from.
- What is "I'm Here"?
-
"I'm here" is my location. We use this as a reference point to calculate
distances from landmarks.
- Can I bookmark my Flickr photos as landmarks?
-
We have put together a page to do this. Go to Action > See My Flickr Photos.
Enter your Flickr user-name to see your photos, select, and complete the
landmark information.
- Can I upload my photos first and bookmark them later?
-
The easy way is to use the Action > Upload Photos page to upload by selecting
files in a folder. Soon, you will be able to email landmark photos to a mailbox.
- Do I need to geotag my photos before I send them to Open Landmark?
-
It is easier if your photos are geotagged with latitude and longitude.
This can be easily done with a GPS data logger that records your locations
while you snap, and then merges the log file with the photos later.
With geotags you do not have to enter a precise address and ask the system to geocode
the address. However, geocoding may not be available in some countries
- Can I help to photo bookmark landmarks in my neighborhood and city?
-
Sure, you can snap photos, upload them and bookmark them. You can also go to Action > Find
GeoTagged Flickr Photos to browse the geotagged photos in your neighborhood or city and
bookmark them as landmarks. We recommend that you select those photos that can really
highlight your neighborhood or city.
- Can I submit landmark updates electronically?
-
Several corporations are updating their outlets electronically with PAD (Portable Applicaiton Description) file.
Email us if you want us to crawl your site to retrieve the PAD file. You can see our PAD file format here.
- When Are You Planning to Release Your APIs?
-
